Hi girls!
Today has been absolutely packed to the brim with heavy technical work -- setting up WordPress installs on websites, managing FTP access accounts, fixing admin permission settings, setting up MySQL databases -- you name it! Well, for the most part if most people can't quite name it, it's likely something I've had to do today.
Setting up websites is at the outer-most reaches of my skill set. I can write, I can edit, I can network, I can design, I can install and upgrade WordPress and...
Girls!
These past two weeks have been amazingly difficult! As a freelance writer/editor/journalist/code monkey, I tend to be quite busy most of the time. I take on multiple contract jobs at once in order to ensure that I've always got a paycheque coming in and my bills are paid. These last two weeks, however, I've been short on paycheques so I've been running around to job interviews, answering 'help wanted' ads online, and scouring social networks for freelance jobs in my field. That was...

Hey girls!
So this week`s been a lot less stressful than last week (thank god!). I`ve been taking easy since I don`t want to overload myself with work and go crazy like last week (if avoidable).
This past weekend was a lot of fun (I was in Toronto for summer job training) and I met some driven and very ambitious people. At times it was kind of overwhelming (when I was being told everything I have to get done and whatnot) but I was more excited about my summer job...

Hey girls!
I'm so sorry for not having a post for so long. I just got caught up in all of my work and even though you may think that reading week is a break - it DEFINITELY is not. I was doing school work every day and by today I needed to have an assignment submitted and two tests written so it was a little crazy (as usual).
I think I'm getting back into the regular swing of things now but I'm not in town this weekend so I'm trying to get all of my work done...
Can a "Computer Engineer" Barbie make a brighter future for women in tech?
Since BarbieTM first came on the market to little girls in 1959, she has had 124 careers that have ranged from Fashion Model to Canadian Mountie. Today, BarbieTM will announce her 125th career, and it's been put to the vote!
All women have the choice of what they want to do with their lives, and BarbieTM is no exception; her career possibilities include environmentalist, surgeon, architect, news anchor or, and computer engineer. Personally, I'd love to see BarbieTM take up the motherboard and...

Hey girls!
It's been quite the week and I'm definitely glad it's almost over. This past weekend I went out to Dalhousie (in Halifax) to visit a couple friends and I had a lot of fun. It was my first time ever being to the Maritimes so naturally I was excited. On Friday night we stayed in their Residence and hung out and partied a bit, Saturday I was shown all around Halifax and we saw a couple tourist-y things and then I went home of Sunday morning. It wasn't a very long visit...

Hey girls!
It seems like with each week I become more and more stressed out. This coming weekend I'm away visiting a friend at university in Halifax so I'm trying to get everything done before that. Unfortunately, looking at my next week it's pretty difficult to get everything done. I have a film midterm on Monday, a math test and physics test on Tuesday and a mechanics midterm on Saturday (way to ruin my weekend right?). One of my friends is throwing a party on Friday night and...

Hey girls!
I believe I can sum up the past week in one word - BUSY! Last week I focused on school work but come the weekend all my time was for my summer job. I went home this weekend and brought my roommate because it seemed like everyone here was away. Over the weekend I manage to make an appointment to set up a bank account, book a flight to Halifax, write a program, scope out Stittsville (which I had to do for my job and I had to drive down EVERY street), book a hotel and...

Hey girls!
So the new semester is fully underway and I'm starting to get back in the routine of school and residence and such. I finally got back all of my marks and I ended up with pretty good marks in all my classes so no complaints there. I'm starting to feel a little stressed out though with everything I have to do. The new assignments and quizzes and whatnot are all coming in and on top of that I'm going to be away the weekend of the 23rd for summer job orientation and the...

Hey girls!
So I seemed to have survived my first day of the new semester. This semester's schedule isn't as regular as last semester (for example, I have 9 hours of classes Monday, 8 hours on Tuesday and then Wednesday through Friday I only have around 3 hours a day). Last term I had a break every day at 11:30 and that's when I ate lunch but this semester I don't have regular hours and I have labs in the middle of the day so my eating habits have been thrown off a bit. I think...
