Girls!
These past two weeks have been amazingly difficult! As a freelance writer/editor/journalist/code monkey, I tend to be quite busy most of the time. I take on multiple contract jobs at once in order to ensure that I've always got a paycheque coming in and my bills are paid. These last two weeks, however, I've been short on paycheques so I've been running around to job interviews, answering 'help wanted' ads online, and scouring social networks for freelance jobs in my field. That was last week, and it was successful. This week, I have a handful of ongoing contracts with more pending next week! Busy, busy girl. I'm building two websites from scratch (oh CSS, let's not fight), writing blogs about mobile technology and cool new tech gadgets for three different websites, and ironing out the details of a very cool job involving Facebook and Twitter apps. Sometimes I step back and say 'Wow, Bambi, you have a History degree and now... you're making a great living designing Facebook and Twitter apps and social marketing strategies, blogging about cool new geeky toys, chatting with people on social networks, and deciding which colours work best on a website? Cool. Very cool.'
Sure, I'm super super busy -- and I love to complain about it -- but you know, I like being busy. I think that as a freelancer it's a good sign of my abilities when people are lining up to hire me. Makes me feel great and it makes me work harder to keep that reputation up! Though it can be frustrating at times (worrying where your next paycheque will come from, always looking for a new job/contract, fluctuating between 10 hours a week and 50+, etc.) I'm glad to be doing what I'm doing and wouldn't have it any other way.
Self made queen of the tech gadget scene,
<3 Bambi
