Girls!
So here we are -- Day 5 of laryngitis!
This is a particularly awful affliction for a gal who telecommutes 100% of the work week. If it weren't for instant messaging and email, my employers would have no idea I existed at all!
Apart from not having a voice, this week has been fairly difficult in regards to juggling work loads. I have plenty to do, but am running into some issues with splitting up my time according to how many hours my contracts are slated for per week. For example, I have one contract that is only supposed to be 15 hours per week (and pays accordingly) but is starting to take me much longer than 15 hours and is certainly much more difficult than originally planned (and therefore considered in my pay rate). It's an issue that comes up often enough in this line of work and I'm still learning how to deal with that. I'm a friendly girl and have always been more inclined to work harder and longer to get things done rather than stir the pot, you know? Perhaps I'll try to brainstorm some ways to make the work load lighter. I do tend to over complicate things.
This week I'm learning how to use open source commerce software. OsCommerce is an e-commerce and online store-management software program. It can be used on any web server that has PHP and MySQL installed. It's free, too -- available under the GNU General Public License. I do love GNU :)
Right now it seems impossible to learn, but I'm told I'll figure it out easily -- I'm curious to see when that 'ah ha!' moment happens. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes!
