Hi girls!
Today has been absolutely packed to the brim with heavy technical work -- setting up WordPress installs on websites, managing FTP access accounts, fixing admin permission settings, setting up MySQL databases -- you name it! Well, for the most part if most people can't quite name it, it's likely something I've had to do today.
Setting up websites is at the outer-most reaches of my skill set. I can write, I can edit, I can network, I can design, I can install and upgrade WordPress and WordPress mμ, I can back up databases... the list goes on! But the really technical bits -- complex coding, MySQL/PHP databases, web server and hosting setup -- scare me! So much can go wrong! I mean, no one's going to lose a limb but... error pages are so ugly! Maybe I'm just too careful. Sometimes, I suppose, you just have to dive in and learn from the mistakes you make. Maybe that's what I need to do with these things -- try, make mistakes, and know for next time. Maybe I'll try it on my own website, first :)
I really enjoy the feeling that comes with successfully setting up a website for someone. The feeling of being seen as a valuable technical brain that they can come to pick when things are over their head. But sometimes setting up websites is like pulling teeth. Today is one of those days.
