More work than I can describe

blog post #11

Hey girls!

I believe I can sum up the past week in one word - BUSY! Last week I focused on school work but come the weekend all my time was for my summer job. I went home this weekend and brought my roommate because it seemed like everyone here was away. Over the weekend I manage to make an appointment to set up a bank account, book a flight to Halifax, write a program, scope out Stittsville (which I had to do for my job and I had to drive down EVERY street), book a hotel and arrange transportation to Toronto for this weekend. It was a little crazy but I did have some time to spend with my best friend who both me and my roommate haven't seen in a while.

As soon as we got back to residence it seemed like school work has reached a peak. I have so much due next week it's actually incredible! I have a math assignment, two mechanics assignments, two physics quizzes, a computer program and a film test coming up. I had a little mini breakdown a couple nights ago because I thought I wasn't going to be able to handle everything but one of my friends managed to calm me down and we've been doing homework every night so I seem to have things more under control and I'm calmer now. I just have to sit back and refocus myself and try not to get overwhelmed.

As I've been trying to concentrate more and more on my schoolwork and do work for longer I started realizing that I have next to zero attention span. Both me and my roommate were finding that we couldn't concentrate or were getting fidgety half-way through our classes and that's when we realized that we weren't doing ANY physical activity besides walking to class. We`ve started going to the gym together and just working out on the elliptical or the bikes but it has made such a difference in my school work! I can concentrate for so much longer and I feel more relaxed and just better all around. Word to the wise - when you go away to school (or even in high school) make sure you do some sort of physical activity to get rid of some of your excess energy. I only go three times per week for about 45 minutes or an hour but I'm so glad I go because I just feel so great afterwards. Comment with any questions!
